Welcome to the 5th version of this world-famous Wagner singing competition which will take place in Musikkens Hus in Aalborg, Denmark April 2024.
The Lauritz Melchior International Singing Competition was founded by the celebrated Wagner singer Poul Elming and was held for the first time in 2010. The competition is hosted by Aalborg Symphony Orchestra.
The objectives of the competition are:
- to venerate and honour one of the greatest Wagnerian tenors, Lauritz Melchior
- to identify and profile the best young Wagnerian singers of today
- to place Aalborg, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra and Musikkens Hus on the musical world map
The Lauritz Melchior International Singing Competition is open to all singers up to and including 42 years old (born 1982 or later) of all vocal ranges and nationalities. The 1st prize is € 20.000.
Deadline for applications is November 1st, 2023.
The jury consists of six members and a non-voting Chairperson. They are:

The application requieres a video recording made specifically for this competition and include two scenes/arias, accompanied by piano, and selected from the LMISC official repertoire list.
